Damon Trout relied on career ownership coaching to create a new opportunity that allowed him to achieve his retirement goals.
Trout has spent more than 20 years working in sales, training and business development, including senior roles in LG Electronics and BSH Home Appliances. He was at a turning point in his career and felt defeated while looking for new opportunities in the corporate world. Frustrated by the lack of alternatives in the population of his age who took advantage of his training and skill set, Trout decided to take matters into his own hands and follow a new path.
Excessive qualifications and jobless
Age discrimination in the workplace is a common complaint for many experienced corporate employees. Three out of five older workers have seen or felt age discrimination in the workplace, AARP reported. More than half of these older workers are forcibly fired from long-term employment, and more than 90 percent never earn as much. Facing layoffs and looking for a long-term job forces many older Americans to pay their retirement savings bills. 29% of households in the United States have no retirement savings or pension, led by someone 55 years of age or older.

Raising three daughters and paying for college tuition hinders Trout’s ability to prepare for retirement. Taking time to set his income, lifestyle, wealth and equity goals, Trout discovered that he needed to create a new course to achieve the American dream.
Trout discovered that he wanted to start a measurable business with unlimited earning potential that would provide him with income after retirement. Trout and his wife both enjoyed traveling and wanted to make sure their new business could provide them with the lifestyle they needed to enjoy life after retirement.
