Damon Trout relied on career ownership coaching to create a new opportunity that allowed him to achieve his retirement goals.

Trout has spent more than 20 years working in sales, training and business development, including senior roles in LG Electronics and BSH Home Appliances. He was at a turning point in his career and felt defeated while looking for new opportunities in the corporate world. Frustrated by the lack of alternatives in the population of his age who took advantage of his training and skill set, Trout decided to take matters into his own hands and follow a new path.

Excessive qualifications and jobless

Age discrimination in the workplace is a common complaint for many experienced corporate employees. Three out of five older workers have seen or felt age discrimination in the workplace, AARP reported. More than half of these older workers are forcibly fired from long-term employment, and more than 90 percent never earn as much. Facing layoffs and looking for a long-term job forces many older Americans to pay their retirement savings bills. 29% of households in the United States have no retirement savings or pension, led by someone 55 years of age or older.

After nearly a year of searching for a new role, Trout was approached by career entrepreneurial coach Dwayne Dubos with The Entrepreneur’s Source.3. TES, the country’s leading career coaching franchise, specializes in providing free, strategic, personalized coaching to help people discover a new path. DuBose helped Trout realize self-sufficiency and gain financial independence through a series of evaluations and conversations.

“TES has a great process that helps you set goals It encourages you to answer honestly and find out who you are It was eye-opening, “said Trout.

DuBose began his own career as a career proprietary coach after spending many years as an accountant. Dissatisfaction with his accounting job and disagreements with colleagues led Dubos on his own journey to find his career 2.0.3. Dubos won the 2021 Coach of the Year award from his peers at the Connecticut-based company’s annual conference in October. The Best Coach of the Year award is given each year to a coach who exemplifies the qualities and spirit of TES, builds strong client-coach relationships, and returns systems and peer coaches.

The franchise owner invented the retirement solution

Raising three daughters and paying for college tuition hinders Trout’s ability to prepare for retirement. Taking time to set his income, lifestyle, wealth and equity goals, Trout discovered that he needed to create a new course to achieve the American dream.

Trout discovered that he wanted to start a measurable business with unlimited earning potential that would provide him with income after retirement. Trout and his wife both enjoyed traveling and wanted to make sure their new business could provide them with the lifestyle they needed to enjoy life after retirement.

“Damon [Trout] A very dynamic, intelligent and driven executive, “said Dubos. “He had a great balance of human skills, executive presence, work ethic and a successful track record.”

After seeing the opportunities of numerous franchises. Trout decides Mosquito Shield has met his goal. “Mosquito Shield is a seasonal business with a call center. This gives Damon the opportunity to conduct operations with a good manager when he is in business, not at all. He can focus on marketing and sales strategies, customer service, client satisfaction and high-level business activities, ”says Dubos.

At the same time that Trout decided to invest in entrepreneurship through franchising, he landed a full-time sales job at Jeffy Ventilation. Working full-time and starting his franchise keeps Trout busy, but it also gives him financial cushion when his seasonal Mosquito Shield business improves. Trout’s wife, Michelle, is helping to share some of the workload by running the company’s advertising campaigns Michelle Trout is a top-level marketing executive at Brinker International, the Chilean bar and grill and Magziano’s Little Italy parent company.

Full-service coaches provide new business tips

Trout’s coaching journey did not end when he signed the dotted line with the Mosquito Shield. DuBose how his company, MADMO Ventures Inc. He advised Trout about getting started and could contact an accountant who could help streamline startup operations. DuBose helped Trout manage expectations for his new venture.

“He helped me set realistic expectations. You have to understand that when you start a new business, it’s not going to be an instantaneous thing and it probably won’t be profitable for the first two to three years, “Trout added.
